Facts not fears

With little else to do during a quarantine, almost all of us are moving our social interactions online. Facebook, WhatsApp, Zoom, Skype and FaceTime are the new replacements for catching up over a cup of coffee or glass of wine. The times they are a changing, as Bob Dylan would groan.

Somewhere online, I saw someone crudely flip the familiar NHS logo and add in new words to cleverly represent a new meaning for its inversion to Stay Home Now. Such a simple thing to do but such a prescient message. I tidied up the NHS logo flip for my own use on social media and it went mildly viral (in a good way). As written in my previous blog post, a lot of public health information around Coronavirus has been on TV or online. On my few journeys outside, I’ve seen no billboard messages or posters, even in GP practices or hospitals.

Friends and colleagues, many from within the NHS, quickly messaged me to ask whether they could use what I’d done, with several more requesting that I do more with it, so that’s what I’ve done. When I worked for the NHS, we regularly developed local health education and awareness campaigns to fill gaps missed by a national government, so unofficially and by popular demand, this is what I’ve now done. You are free to use these resources as posters and on social media to keep the message prevalent. Below are download links and this is what they look like. The simple messages are taken from the UK Government’s current television advertising.
